Twisted Chapter 18

*Paisley’s POV*
Pacing on the hallway outside of Julie’s ‘work space’ because Shain said I was making him nervous. Yeah says the guy who gave himself green hair. I feel like I’m waiting on him to pop out with a litter of puppies or for a doctor to say he’s done with surgery.
Not being able to stand there and work my own nerves up anymore I tapped my knuckles on the doorway where Julie stood and Shain sat. He looked up, “hey my hair isn’t green anymore”, he smiled.
“Oh really?”
Julie chimed in, “woah there calm down it’s still got a greenish tint to it but it’s the best I can do on a moments notice, oh and don’t put bleach anywhere near it. For now when it all wears out your color should be back.”
He stood up and looked at his hair in the mirror and turned around, “thank you.”
Julie smiled, “don’t mess it up.”
….
Back at Shain’s house, Ian went to work so I was just kinda left here chillin’.
Sitting in the recliner, “have you heard from Aiden?”
Shain looked up from his Xbox and looked like he was in deep thought, “nope not since everyone was at your house.” When he finished his answer he went immediately back to playing.
I looked down at my knees that were drawn close to my chest and picked at my nails. I knew Aiden didn’t really speak to him anymore so it was really a dumb question, they were so close though. A lot of times when I thought about it i just closed my eyes. It hurt to know I, in a way, caused it. I never wanted any of that to happen.
“I’m sorry.”
He set the controller down again and turned around confused, “What, why?”
I lifted my head to look at him, “you know about you and Aiden.”
Standing up and walking over to me and sitting down on the couch beside the recliner I was in, “Paisley you didn’t do that.”
My eyes followed him, “but I did.”
He patted the seat next to him, “come here.”
Getting up to sit in the middle seat of his couch, he turned to face me.
Looking me in the eyes when he started to speak, “I did that. All on my own. You just got caught in the middle. Don’t you dare blame yourself. I did that. I deserve to be the one saying sorry not you. I can’t promise things will ever be fixed but I’ll promise you one thing.”
Barely able to find my voice so it can out as more of a croke, “what’s that.”
Still staring so far into my eyes that he can probably see my soul, “I’ll try.”
I leaned forward and hugged him, I didn’t want to let go. For the moment everything seemed to be fine, “Paisley.”
“Yeah.”
“I’ve missed those hugs.”
Leaving my head on his shoulder, “me too.”
“One more thing.”
“What is it.”
He put his hands on my shoulders and held me at a distance so he could stare into my eyes again.
“He’s not an angel.”
I furrowed my eyebrows, “who?”
“Don’t ask questions just listen.”
….
*Shain’s POV*
It had only been about two hours since I took Paisley home. Flipping through the channels on the TV.
“Please just don’t play with me my paper heart will bleed”
I hear my ringtone and look down at my phone
Aiden:
Open the door.

So I walked over to the door and unlocked it, before I opened it I spoke to him, “are you here to punch me in the face?” No I wasn’t scared of him but I wasn’t gonna open the door to let him punch me.
“No. I’m here to talk.”
“Okay”, I opened the door, “what do you wanna talk about?”
“I think we have some talking to do.” He finally admitted.
“I know man I know.” I shut the door behind him, “I promised Paisley I’d try to fix this.”
He turned around to look at me, “you know she doesn’t talk to me the way she talks to you.”
I stared at the floor, “yeah I’ve figured that out.”
He took a deep breath and let it out as he walked to the kitchen. Following him into the kitchen til I saw him leaning against the counter and I realized just then exactly how we were going to talk.. When he crossed his arms and kept his head held low I also knew he didn’t just want a ‘heart to heart, man to man’ talk. He wanted a ‘manly heart to heart and a I need to fix a lot of things and I’m fixing this first’ talk.
“Aiden, I know you don’t trust me but we can’t stand here in silence.”
He lifted his head to look at me, and then stared straight ahead just looking at the cabinets. “Sorry but I’m enjoying the silence. It’s reminding me that everything is okay.”
I put my hands on the counter beside me and stretched my arms out kind of like a cat would, “what did you do.”
Now he was staring at the ceiling, “I’m losing touch with myself. Does that even make sense. What I mean is by losing touch with myself, I’m losing everyone I care about slowly.” He looked over at me, “I lost the guy who was basically my brother,” if I had of had a drink in my mouth at that moment I’d have choked on it.
“Stop right there. There’s some things you might want to know about.”
