The Maze Runner - James Dashner

I recently finished this book and really enjoyed it. Thus I've started the 2nd one and am loving that one way more.

The premise of this book is that Thomas wakes up in a strange place, we later learn is called the Glade, and has no memory of anything other than his name. Automatically he's overly curious about everything causing a couple of the boys to not like him. While he makes a couple of friends his curiousity is still getting the better of him because he wants to know how to become a runner.

While I was reading this I didn't see much character development in many side characters. The most character development was Thomas. By the end of this book I was captivated by the way he thought about things. He started to use more emotion but also his brain for decisions and it was a nice balance. The other character development I saw was in Chuck. Who at the beginning was a little immature but by the end of the book he matured more for a 12-13 year old boy. Newt also had good character development. I wish I had gotten more from him within the whole book. When I first started reading this Newt was quieter and reserved but by the end he was being Thomas' friend and opening up and defending him against boys he'd known for years.

I feel good with the way the story happened and the storyline of the book had a nice pace to it. I do feel that for a YA book at times it could be a little immature but I also felt that it was perfect for the age group. I thought covering up cuss words with code words was clever even though other authors have done it I liked the way James Dashner made it almost like their own language.

I give this book 3.5 out of 5 stars. I did enjoy it and I will finish off the series. Granted this is a low rating for the way I've reviewed this book but I'm going to say that it didn't blow me away but I was not disappointed so I give an average rating (for me anyway).

I do recommend this to boys (and girls) but mostly boys because that is obviously the designated crowd for this book. I believe the perfect age group for anyone to pick this up is 13 and up. 13 just because thats where the age group starts for all the boys in the maze.

That is all I have for this review today Loves and I will be back soon with an unhauling video so stay tuned!

Paper Towns by John Green

Initially I was going to film a video review for this because I loved it but I didn't get the chance to so I'm now doing a written review.

John Green is life.

When I finished TFIOS I decided I needed more John Green in my life. Alas I went and bought Paper Towns and Looking For Alaska.

I've read some reviews on Goodreads for Paper Towns now that I've finished it and I saw that some people feel like Margo and Alaska are basically the same. I see this but I do not feel like Margo and Alaska are the same. There are some similarities but these girls are not the same.

Everbody needs to go read this book.

Paper Towns was a very enjoyable read. I liked the little clues that Margo left and how Q pieced them together.

I give this book 4.5 stars

One thing I disliked about this book was that Margo basically had no communication with Q for years but then all of a sudden in the dead of night she gets him to go on a road trip (basically).
