The Girl From The Well | Review

I finished this the other night. I enjoyed it. Definitely not one of my favorite reads of 2015.

This story is heavily influenced by Japanese folklore and culture, which I did enjoy, I haven't read a book like this before.

I couldn't pronounce the main character's name, Okiku. I felt like I was pronouncing it wrong.

This follows Okiku and Tark. Tark's mom sort of went crazy when he was younger causing most of his problems.

I felt like this mostly was informative.

One of my biggest problems with this was the writing style. It was good but weird. Does that make sense? It was from Okiku's POV but sometimes it seemed like it was more 1st person than 3rd. Possibly like a mix in the middle. So it was a little bit of an adjustment at times. Also sometimes it seemed like it went off from the storyline on slightly irrelevant things.

All and all this was a nice read. I did enjoy it, it was pretty quick. At times it seemed to be really slow but the last half picked up more.

I definitely recommend picking this up if you've got the time. Personally at this time I don't plan on picking up the sequel.

I gave this ***/5 stars

Avengers Age of Ultron Review

So I went to see this last night.

I can say that it did not disappoint. Romance was not played up. Which is a good thing in a superhero movie. We got to see a little bit more about Hawkeye and his life. We see a new enemy, Ultron, and eventually some new allies.

I'm trying to keep this as vague as possible because it is very easy to give away spoilers considering this is a sequel and will probably continue.

I give this 5/5 stars.

If I Stay | Review

I picked this up mostly because my friend read it and loved it then decided I needed to read it. S/O to Madison (check her out on Twitter).

I read this in like 2/3 sittings. I flew right through it. I couldn't put it down, nor did I want to. Granted I didn't connect with the main character, Mia, on a personal level I did enjoy reading about her and her family. I enjoyed her thoughts throughout the story. I will definitely be picking up the sequel sometime soon.

I gave this 4/5 stars.

The major tableturner in this story happened at the very beginning and you were captivated from there. You were told some background information and got to know Mia, her parents, brother, and Adam. Right when the author decided you knew enough the car wreck happened.

This was literally written so beautifully. I can't.

Decisions

Problem 1) okay so I’ve heard great things about graphic novels and comics. Tbh I’m getting a bit curious, only problem is I’m not that much into anime but I like super heroes like iron man, wolverine, etc. Where do I start??
Problem 2) Can someone convince me to read Cinder bc I’m also curious about that but not sure if I will enjoy it so I don’t wanna waste money. Need moral support on that decision.

We Should Hangout Sometime | Review

Hope Was Here | Review

Gone Girl By Gillian Flynn

When I started this book I went into it not knowing what to expect. I was utterly mind screwed. I was reading Amy's thoughts and what was going on and was still my mind was messed with. To put it nicely, Amy is crazy. I knew the entire time that Nick was innocent but I wanted to know "whodunit" the entire time. The last 100 pages messed with my head the most.

To say the least I enjoyed this. My problems with this book were that I didn't like Amy. I didn't like her in the beginning and I really didn't like her at the end. I don't believe she's supposed to be likable. I also felt like Nick's hatred for his dad was too much. For a good portion of the book I felt like it was going in circles.

I gave this book 4/5 stars. I felt like after all I read that I didn't get the ending I wanted or expected but I was okay with it.
